There is a powerful statement God makes to Joshua in Joshua 13:1 that sets the tone for this season: “You are old and advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.” These words are striking because they are spoken to a leader who has already walked with God, fought battles, and seen victories. Yet God looks at Joshua and makes it clear that experience does not mean completion. As long as God is still speaking, there is still territory ahead. This is the heartbeat of the 2026 the year of advancement — not survival, not maintenance, but forward movement into what God has not yet revealed.
One of the greatest lessons from Israel’s journey is that God does not change, but His methods do. When Israel stood before the Red Sea, Moses lifted the rod and struck the waters, and the sea opened. That miracle was about escape — deliverance from bondage and oppression. But when Israel reached the Jordan River under Joshua’s leadership, the situation was different. The Jordan was overflowing, and God did not instruct Joshua to lift a rod. Instead, He commanded the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant — His presence — to step into the water. The waters did not part before the step; they parted because of the step. The Red Sea opened for escape, but the Jordan opened for inheritance. This shift reveals that yesterday’s strategy cannot carry us into tomorrow’s promise.
Joshua did not lift a symbol; he stepped out in boldness. This marks a transition from visible power to obedient faith. In the old system, the miracle came first and the movement followed. In the new dispensation, the movement comes first and the miracle follows. God was teaching His people that advancement requires trust beyond familiarity. The presence of God went ahead, and only then did the impossible respond. This is the posture required in a season of advancement — not waiting for conditions to change, but obeying God’s instruction even when the waters are still overflowing.
The Lord reinforces this truth in Isaiah 43:18–19 when He commands His people not to remember the former things or dwell on the past. Every life carries a yesterday, and the enemy is relentless in reminding people of heartbreak, failure, loss, and disappointment. But God draws a line and says that the past cannot define the future He is creating. He declares that He is doing a new thing — not repairing the old, not repeating history, but creating fresh pathways where none existed before. Ways in the wilderness and rivers in the desert are evidence that God specializes in transformation that demands new thinking and new responses.
This is why 2026 cannot be approached with old strategies. Advancement requires alignment. God is calling His people into a new dispensation marked by order, discipline, and obedience. The crossing of the Jordan was not chaotic; it was deliberate and structured. The priests moved first, the Ark was central, and the people followed instruction. Order positions people for progress. Discipline sustained the priests as they stood in the water holding the presence of God until the miracle manifested. Obedience activated the breakthrough. None of these elements can be optional in a season where inheritance is at stake.
This principle extends beyond spiritual language into practical life. In business, ministry, relationships, and purpose, growth demands change. Yesterday’s systems cannot produce tomorrow’s results. Teams must be reorganized, strategies redefined, and decisions aligned with where God is leading now. Advancement is not accidental; it is intentional obedience to divine instruction.
Before God establishes anything, He releases life. No vision, structure, or plan can stand unless God breathes life into it. Establishment follows life, not the other way around. When God gives life to a vision, He sustains it. When He gives life to a calling, He defends it. This is why the declaration for this season begins with life and culminates in establishment.
The message of this year is clear: there remains much land. What is opening now is not for survival, but for possession. Not for escape, but for inheritance. The Red Sea season has passed; this is the Jordan moment. God is still speaking, still leading, and still calling His people forward. And for those who are willing to listen, step out, and trust Him with a new strategy, advancement is not a possibility — it is a promise.
Amen.
